On October 25, the Higher People's Court of Sichuan Province in southwest China issued opinions on offering high-quality legal protection services to the Giant Panda National Park.
The opinions provide guidance on crimes and trials involving the illegal hunting, killing, purchase, trafficking and sale of rare and endangered wild animals, including but not limited to the giant panda, golden snub-nosed monkey, snow leopard and takin.
To promote green and low-carbon development, the opinions explain the procedures to better resolve the conflicts over ecological relocation, tourism and compensation.
Lying across the Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces, the Giant Panda National Park is one of the first five national parks designated by the Chinese government in 2022. It covers an area of 27,134 square kilometers and provides a natural habitat for more than 70 percent of the total wild giant panda population in China.
