China on Friday released a new edition of the industry catalog of sectors that the country "encourages" for foreign investment in a move to boost capital inflow.

The 2022 catalog of "encouraged industries" for foreign investment added 239 more items and modified 167 existing ones compared with the 2020 version, according to a statement from the National Development and Reform Commission.

Foreign-invested projects that are covered in the catalog can enjoy preferential treatment in taxation and land use. The new list, containing a total of 1,474 items, will be effective 2023.

The modified list put more emphasis on the manufacturing sector and the country's mid and western regions.

The Chinese market has continued to attract foreign capital in the first nine months of the year with the foreign direct investment, in actual use, jumping to 18.9 percent year on year to $155.3 billion, official data showed on Thursday.
