On October 27, the UN Security Council convened a meeting to review biosecurity issues in Ukraine. In its statement at the meeting, China said that it firmly opposes any country's research, development, stockpiling or use of biological weapons under any circumstances. China called on the international community to resume negotiations on a verification protocol for the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) at an early date, which has been stalled for more than 20 years, and to enhance global biosecurity.
