NASA scientists have detailed a big meteorite strike on Mars that was detected by the space agency's stationary lander, called the InSight. NASA said that on December 24 last year, a meteorite estimated at most 12 meters in diameter hit Mars' surface, triggering magnitude-4 tremors. The InSight detected boulder-sized chunks of ice close to the Red Planet's equator due to the impact. This was the largest impact detected by the InSight lander since arriving on Mars in 2018.
