The Houston Astros beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-2 in Game 2 of the MLB World Series at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas, on Saturday, to tie the series 1-1.

In Game 1 on Friday, the Astros blew a 5-0 lead at home to lose 6-5. After shortstop Jeremy Pena, designated hitter Yordan Alvarez and third-baseman Alex Bregman again blasted the Astros to a 5-0 lead after five innings, the team refused to repeat history.

The Astros were dominant on defense as well. Their three pitchers Framber Valdez, Rafael Montero and Ryan Pressly threw 13 strikeouts, allowing only eight basses.

"Framber did a great job. Just amazing performance by him and our bullpen, as well," second baseman Jose Altuve said.

No Philly had even hit a long drive until the seventh inning. Right fielder Nick Castellanos doubled to deep left center before second baseman Jean Segura helped him score the first run for the team with a sacrifice fly to the left. However, the Astros soon shut them as pinch hitter Nick Maton lined out when he ran to third base.

Left fielder Kyle Schwarber hit a double home run for the Phillies in the eighth inning, but it was then ruled to be a foul ball as it flew to the foul side of the pole. His next long hit became a fly out at the right field wall.

Though the Phillies scored their second run in the ninth inning thanks to a fielding error by first baseman Yuli Gurriel, pinch hitter Bryson Stott then grounded out with two pitches from Pressly, ending Game 2 with a victory.

"I think everybody deserves a poor start every once in a while," Phillies manager Rob Thomson said. "Those guys have been so good for us for so long, and I fully expect them to come back and be ready to go and pitch well for us."

The following three games will all be played at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, starting with Game 3 on October 31.
