The World Laureates Association (WLA) and China Media Group jointly organized a "Sci-T Conference" in east China's Shanghai on Sunday ahead of the upcoming 5th World Laureates Forum, to enhance science literacy among young adults.

Top scientists and experts were invited to share their views both online and onsite at the conference, which also featured scientific experiments and tech demonstrations.

Youngsters listened to the scientists' speeches, participated in experiments and got inspired by the spirit and charm of science.

"I have been interested in astronomy since childhood because of the beautiful planets and galaxies. My dream is to make my own contribution to the aerospace industry," Tang Jie, an undergraduate from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, told CGTN.

World Laureates Forum

With the theme of "Science Forward, Create a Bright Future," the 5th World Laureates Forum will be held in Shanghai from November 6 to 7.

Sixty top scientists from more than 20 countries and regions, including 27 Nobel Prize winners, will attend the forum online or onsite.

As one of the world's largest science and technology forums, the forum was initiated by the WLA in 2018 "to promote basic science, advocate international cooperation and support younger generations of scientists," according to the forum's official website.

The forum is organized by the Shanghai municipal government and has been held every October in Shanghai for the past three years.
