A period of national mourning has been declared in South Korea from October 30 to November 5 after more than 150 people were killed in a crowd surge during Halloween celebrations in downtown Seoul.

The day after the accident, mourners gathered in front of Seoul Plaza to mourn the victims of the stampede that took the lives of more than 150 people. The incident is the nation's worst disaster in eight years.
