Giant pandas Jia Jia and Kai Kai were already the marquee attractions in Singapore, but the panda parents have been upstaged by their cub, Le Le, the first panda cub born in the island-state in August 2021. Ever since, Le Le has garnered a huge fan base and his most ardent fans are capturing Le Le's milestones before he returns to China next year. CGTN's Miro Lu tracks down the mischievous cub and his die-hard fans next.

VIVIAN ANG Panda Fan "He is like a little treasure now in Singapore. A lot of people queue up, especially when he started coming out in the nursery. Queue up for hours just to see him for less than one minute. And then when Le Le is out from the den, we can hear those excitement."

MIRO LU Singapore "At the age of one, Singapore's first panda cub, Le Le, has many of the city state's residents wrapped around his little finger. Since he was introduced to the public, there has been a flurry of visitors, many have visited once, twice or even thrice. And there is also a group of panda lovers who come on a regular basis – some of them even come multiple times in a week, because they don't want to miss any milestone of their favourite furball."

TIE BOON PING Panda Fan "It's like seeing a good old friend but it is also a objective for every week for us that we are looking forward to, to visit them to understand how is their progress."

VIVIAN ANG Panda Fan "I think the panda family for me has become a part of me. Every weekend I must come. Kai Kai and Jia Jia have become my friends. Le Le to me seems to have become my god son, so I must see him every weekend."

Miro Lu: You guys even created a social media account for Le Le on the Chinese platform Weibo, right?

Boon Ping: We post photos on Weibo, the account is not created by us, it is by one of the…

Miro Lu: Based in China or based in Singapore?

Boon Ping: Based in China.

Miro Lu: But now this account is becoming the de facto Le Le account on Weibo?

Boon Ping: Yes

Miro Lu: And all of you contribute content, pictures, videos?

Boon Ping: Yes

Miro Lu: Why do you man these Chinese social?

DAPHNE LYE Panda Fan "The intention is actually to cause awareness to the China fans in China. So we must introduce Le Le to the Chinese citizens to let them know who is Le Le from baby, all the way to two years old, till Le Le go back to China and by that time they will take over to love him, to photo him."

Miro Lu: I noticed all of your photo album there are so many pictures of the whole family.

CHOO JIALE Panda Fan "I remember that time was nearing Le Le's birthday, so it is a very important occasion, it will take up a lot of memory space. I bought a new phone. On Le Le's birthday we were all very excited, we came here very early to be the first in the queue. Very happy to see that the staff had prepared an ice cake for Le Le. It was a especially made one with different tierings of the cake. He was hugging the figure one and suddenly the figure one fell down – he was everything is still okay, so he will continue hugging and playing with the toy. So it is very cute to see him with his own very playful self that day."

Miro Lu: Most memorable moment that you saw with Le Le?

TIE BOON PING Panda Fan "The journey of seeing Le Le grow from a small little panda in the glass panel, till he can like bugs bunny speed, running out from the caves and go up to the tree and come down and go to another tree and go up to pluck his favourite treat and come down and roll all over the place within five minutes that is amazing."

DAPHNE LYE Panda Fan "I enjoy seeing Le Le playing with mommy Jia Jia, and they wrestling and play fight and also Le Le steal mommy's food and go up to the tree to enjoy the treats."

VIVIAN ANG Panda Fan "I thought his acrobatic skills are amazing. He can actually hang his body on one branch of the tree with just one of his limbs."

CHOO JIALE Panda Fan "I especially love Le Le's very curious and yet mischievous moments. So he likes to destroy the plants in his exhibit and also he likes to dig the soil, dig for new things to play with and at the same time he will actually display his very cheeky signature smile."

DAPHNE LYE Panda Fan "Because we waited for so many years for a baby panda and right now Le Le is born and we only have two years to be with him. So, to me I want to spend as much time with him as possible. So once he goes back to China I have planned that I will go and visit him in China every year perhaps, every year or twice a year. Our love for him don't stop when he goes back to China, we will continue to love him."
