Trailblazer: Protecting Asian elephants
02:11

The number of Asian elephants has halved since the middle of last century, and the largest land mammal on the Asian continent is now classified as an endangered species. A team of workers in China has been rescuing and caring for elephants for nearly two decades. They are known as the pachyderms' "papas." Thanks to their efforts, China's Asian elephant population has doubled to around 300.
