China's health authority called for more precise and scientific control on COVID-19 on Saturday, while making it clear that the dynamic zero-COVID policy will stay in place at the moment.

"We are seeing resurges of cases in some areas," said Hu Xiang, an official from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), at a press conference in Beijing. "The risk is still there."

The dynamic zero-COVID policy will not change, Hu added, and control policies will be updated according to new situations.

The current control methods are still working and can effectively suppress the spread of the novel coronavirus, according to Wang Guiqiang, director of the infectious disease department of the Peking University First Hospital.

More precise and scientific

With that said, officials at the press conference called for better implementation of COVID-19 control.

Some areas' policies are too simple and beyond the required level, said Tuo Jia, another official from the CDC.

"There are three key problems," Tuo said. "The first is expelling or quarantining people from low-risk areas. The second is expanding the travel limit from middle-to-high-risk areas to other areas. And the third is expanding the quarantine coverage to people who don't need to be isolated."

The officials said the National Health Commission is busy processing people's complaints every day.

"Those who don't correct their problems will be held accountable," Tuo told reporters.
