China's Wei Xiaoyuan defends uneven bars title at World Championships

China's Wei Xiaoyuan defended her title on uneven bars at the 51st Artistic Gymnastics World Championships on Saturday.

Attempting a difficulty score of 6.600 points, Wei staged a solid performance to claim the victory with 14.966 points.

American Shilese Jones finished second with 14.766 points, while Olympic champion Nina Derwael of Belgium took bronze with 14.700.

"Defending the title will boost my confidence for the whole of the Paris Olympic cycle. I have high hopes of winning gold again in Paris 2024," said 18-year-old Wei.

Also on Saturday, China's Zou Jingyuan took silver in the rings final for men with 14.866 points. Türkiye's Adem Asil won gold with 14.933, and the UK's Courtney Tulloc took bronze with 14.733.
