China responds to G7: Stop interfering in China's internal affairs
CGTN

"We urge the G7 members to stop clinging to 'the Cold War mentality' and ideological prejudice, stop interfering in other countries' internal affairs, stop repeating lies and fallacies, and stop stirring up regional conflicts and provoking bloc confrontation so as to create a favorable condition for global cooperation," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said on Monday at a regular press briefing.

The G7 group announced on November 4 to "aim for constructive cooperation" with China, where possible and in their interest, in particular on global challenges like peace and security, global health, the climate and biodiversity crisis.

The joint-statement by the G7 foreign ministers also "grossly interfered China's internal affairs" and reminded China of "the need to uphold the principles of the UN Charter."

In response, Zhao said that China's position on issues related to Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Taiwan is always clear and consistent.

"The so-called joint statement by the foreign ministers of the G7 countries ignored China's stance and objective facts, grossly interfered in China's internal affairs and maliciously smeared China," Zhao said, adding that China is strongly dissatisfied with and firmly opposed to it.

"China practices the true multilateralism and has set an example in practicing the UN Charter," Zhao added.

The China side has committed to promote the international community to face the global challenge together, committed to promote building a community with a shared future for mankind, the spokesperson reiterated.
