On December 22, 1983, China's first supercomputer "Yinhe-1", which could perform more than 100 million calculations per second, was successfully developed. China became the third country in the world to independently design and manufacture a supercomputer. After years of unremitting research, China's first supercomputer built entirely with domestic processors, Sunway TaihuLight, was successfully developed. In 2016, Sunway TaihuLight ranked first in the world's top 500 supercomputers. In 2022, it ranked sixth in the latest published list.
