IMF agrees to $4.5 billion support package for Bangladesh

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on Wednesday that it has reached a preliminary agreement with Bangladesh to provide a support package worth $4.5 billion.

An IMF delegation and Dhaka representatives "reached a staff-level agreement to support Bangladesh's economic policies" with $4.5 billion provided under various facilities, the institution said in a statement, adding that the deal is subject to IMF management approval.
