The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has been seeking cooperation not only within the group but also with other Asian countries, developing ASEAN+1 and ASEAN+3 cooperation. Victor Gao, chair professor at Soochow University, says that ASEAN is one of the most successful regional cooperation organizations ever in its establishment of internal integration and strong pursuit of cooperation with other countries like China.
