Germany's annual inflation rate climbed to 10.4 percent in October, a new high since its reunification in 1990, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) said on Friday.

The data marked an uptick from September's figure of 10.0 percent, resulting from "enormous price rises for energy products," according to the Destatis statement.

The country's energy product prices rocketed 43.0 percent for the month compared with the same time a year earlier despite relief measures taken, while food prices jumped 20.3 percent in October year-on-year.
