Russian President Vladimir Putin has spoken to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, with both leaders emphasizing deepening political, trade and economic cooperation, the Kremlin said on Saturday.

"A number of topical issues on the bilateral agenda were discussed, with the emphasis on further enhancing cooperation in the political, trade and economic fields, including the transport and logistics sector," the Kremlin said in a statement.

A senior Russian security official met Iranian leaders in Tehran on Wednesday and the two countries pledged closer ties.

The visit took place following accusations by Ukraine and the West that Russia has used Iranian drones to target Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Russia has denied the claims.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on November 5 that Iran had given "a limited number" of drones to Russia months before the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and denied involvement in the conflict.

Amir-Abdollahian also rejected the Western "media hype" over the delivery of Iranian missiles to Russia, saying "what they have said about the missiles is completely wrong." He reiterated Iran's position on resolving the Russia-Ukraine crisis and called for political dialogue between the countries involved.
