The European Union on Monday slapped additional sanctions on Iran over its handling of recent protests, targeting 29 individuals and three organisations.

Among those sanctioned with travel bans and asset freezes are high-ranking members of the Revolutionary Guards and Iran's Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi, according to an EU statement.

The British government also said on Monday it had added 24 designations under its Iran sanctions regime related to human rights.
