Initial findings suggested the missile that hit a village in Poland was fired by Ukrainian forces at an incoming Russian missile, the Associated Press reported on Wednesday, citing three U.S. officials.

The incident in Poland is "an attempt to provoke a direct clash between Russia and NATO," Dmitry Polyansky, the head of the permanent mission of Russia to the United Nations later said on his Telegram channel on Wednesday.
