Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao met with U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai on Friday on the sidelines of the 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting in Thailand. 

They had "frank, professional and constructive" exchanges on China-U.S. economic and trade issues, as well as other regional and multilateral issues of common concern, according to the ministry.

They also agreed to maintain communications.
