"We learned the hard way, six years ... because we've learned that the issue in Indonesian transportation is always about how we purchase land for public use," said Ridwan Kamil, governor of West Java, in an interview with CGTN about why it took six years to complete the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway.

The railway track runs from Jakarta to Bandung in West Java.

He believes that the high-speed railway would encourage the public to develop greener traveling habits. He also emphasized that the high-speed rail alone will not solve congestion. Public transport within the internal areas would have to be upgraded, and the city has to be designed in a way to encourage walking and cycling.
