Thousands of Portugal's doctors, nurses, teachers and civil servants have been striking to demand wage increases amid rampant inflation. Many schools and courts were shut and hospital appointments and surgeries have been canceled. In the UK, about 350 ground handlers at London's Heathrow airport have announced a 72-hour strike from November 18 in a pay dispute.
