Xi, Prayut vow to build a more stable, sustainable China-Thailand community with a shared future

China and Thailand have agreed to build a more stable, prosperous and sustainable China-Thailand community with a shared future, so as to chart the future directions of the relations, and reaffirmed that the "China and Thailand are as close as one family."

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha met on Saturday at the Government House in Bangkok, Thailand.

Upon the 10th anniversary of the China-Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, Xi said the traditional friendship of the two countries has been carried forward, and the development of the bilateral relations has entered a new stage.

The two sides should enhance mutual trust, understanding, and support each other on matters concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, Xi said.

Xi said the two countries need to strengthen cooperation in the fields of investment, trade, tourism, infrastructure and industrial parks, and expand cooperation in areas which are supportive to future development.

China is willing to work with Thailand to ensure the implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), and strengthen cooperation on combating transnational crimes, Xi said.

China will work with Thailand to strengthen coordination in international affairs to make a positive contribution to promoting the lasting peace and long-term development of the world, Xi said, adding that China will enhance solidarity and cooperation with Thailand and other member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

For his part, Prayut extended his congratulations on the successful convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and to Xi on his re-election as general secretary of the CPC Central Committee.

Thailand supports the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative proposed by President Xi, and expects China to play a bigger role in addressing regional and global affairs, he said.

Thailand will strengthen high-level exchanges, mutual trust and mutual respect with China, Prayut said, and actively implement the Joint Action Plan on China-Thailand Strategic Cooperation and the Cooperation Plan on Jointly Promoting the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, and speed up the building of the China-Thailand railway.

The two leaders witnessed the signing of the Joint Action Plan on China-Thailand Strategic Cooperation between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand (2022-2026), Cooperation Plan between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand on Jointly Promoting the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, and a series of cooperation documents in the fields of economy and trade, investment, e-commerce and scientific and technological innovation.

A joint statement was issued after the meeting of the two leaders.
