Millions of voters headed to polling stations on Sunday as Kazakhstan held its snap presidential election.  

Polling stations opened at 7:00 a.m. local time (0100 GMT)  and will close at 9:00 p.m. (1500 GMT), with first exit polls expected around midnight Sunday (1800 GMT.)  

According to Astana Times, there're a total of 11,950,485 eligible voters. And turnout has hit over 60 percent as of 4 p.m. local time, Kazinform news agency said.

Five candidates are on the ballot against incumbent President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
