A merchant ship, named "Yangtze River Estuary No. 2," has been salvaged after over 150 years of being under water off the northeastern tip of Hengsha Island in Shanghai's Chongming District. The vessel, which dates back to the reign of Emperor Tongzhi (1862-1875) of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), was scooped from the riverbed by 22 giant arched steel beams weighing 8,800 tonnes. The ship is about 38.1 meters long and 9.9 meters wide at its broadest point.
