At least two people were killed after a magnitude-5.6 earthquake struck Java, Indonesia on Monday, according to the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB Indonesia).
The epicenter was on land in Cianjur in West Java, about 75 km southeast of Jakarta, and at a depth of 10 km, the weather and geophysics agency (BMKG) said, adding there was no potential for a tsunami.
Strong tremors were felt for several seconds in the Indonesian capital Jakarta, prompting some people to evacuate buildings.
