The San Francisco 49ers beat the Arizona Cardinals 38-10 in the NFL Mexico Game at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, Mexico, on Monday, to lead the National Football Conference (NFC) West with the same record (6-4) as the Seattle Seahawks.
In his eighth starting game for the 49ers this season, quarterback (QB) Jimmy Garoppolo completed 20 of his 29 passes for 228 yards and four touchdowns (TDs). The last time he threw four TDs was in December 2019. The team finished that regular season with a 13-3 record and reached Super Bowl LIV, where they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.
It was also the first time for the 49ers to have two players score at least two receiving TDs each in one game since September 2000. Tight end George Kittle had four catches for 84 yards and two TDs; wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk contributed two TDs as well. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel rushed for 37 yards and one TD with three carries.

By contrast, the Cardinals' QB Colt McCoy passed 24-for-34 for 218 yards but no TD. He was sacked three times, which cost his team 30 yards. Two wide receivers, Greg Dortch and DeAndre Hopkins, both had nine catches for combined 194 yards, but the team's only TD came from running back James Conner. It took him 14 rushes to score it and 42 yards.
The first half of Monday's game was much closer than the final score, partly because the Cardinals worked hard enough on the defensive end. However, the 49ers' offensive group were in such great form that they switched skillfully from passing and rushing, making the opponents fail to cover both and soon grew tired out in the second half.

"It was really one of those pick your poison type of nights," Garoppolo said. "They tried to take away the run, so we passed it, and then vice versa. It was a good night."
"That was a really good team," Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said. "We knew we had to play as good as we've played all year. And I thought they played really physical in that second half and found a way to make plays."
With a 4-7 record after 11 games, the Cardinals are looking at very thin chances of making the playoffs this season, especially with their star QB Kyler Murray held back by a hamstring injury.
