The 616 project was officially launched in Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, central China's Hubei Province, in August 2007. The scenic spot's uplift provided jobs for over 1,500 villagers and led to the development of 300 B&Bs in the area, with the per capita annual income rising by 30,000 to 100,000 yuan. The scenic spot also encourages its employees to make short videos and livestream for online marketing, which brings extra income to the villagers and lets the outside world see the beauty of Enshi.
