A colonel in Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has been killed by a roadside bomb blast near the Syrian capital Damascus, Iranian media reported on Wednesday.

"Colonel Davoud Jafari, an adviser of the IRGC Aerospace Force in Syria, was killed after a roadside bomb explosion near Damascus," Tasnim news agency reported, citing a statement from the IRGC.

The IRGC has claimed that Israel is behind the explosion, according to Tasnim. Israel has not responded to this yet.
