A number of units were shut down at the Pivdennoukrainsk nuclear power plant (NPP) in southern Ukraine on Wednesday in response to a loss of power after Russian air strikes across the country, Ukraine's nuclear energy firm Energoatom has said.
An Energoatom spokesperson said: "Everything is fine with the station. There is nowhere to generate electricity."
In light of the Russian shellings, power units at Ukraine's Khmelnytskyi NPP in Netishyn were also disconnected from the power grid, regional authorities said, while local media reported that Ukraine's Rivne NPP in Varash was also put into emergency mode.
The radiation level at the NPP sites and territories nearby has not changed, and all indicators remain normal, Energoatom said in a statement.
