Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim was appointed the 10th prime minister of Malaysia on Thursday, the sultan's palace said, days after the nation's 15th General Elections, which resulted in a hung parliament.
He will be sworn in as new prime minister later on Thursday.
The 75-year-old was deputy prime minister in the 1990s and the official prime minister-in-waiting in 2018.
