Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Friday night that more than six million people are still affected by blackouts throughout Ukraine, including the capital, as restoration operations continue.

According to Zelenskyy, almost 12 million residents were cut off from the grid on Wednesday, after what the government claimed were Russian strikes on critical infrastructure.

Russia has denied targeting Kyiv in its operations on Wednesday.
