A large-diameter undersea light rail tunnel connecting China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) and Hengqin Island in southern China's Guangdong Province was completed on November 25.

It is a first for the Hengqin line, Macao's Light Rapid Transit (LRT) extension.

Expected to be in service by 2024, the line will serve as an alternative route for people traveling between the two areas and assist in enhancing the regional cooperation of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
