"The Chinese Dream, a dream about peace, development, cooperation and win-win, is closely linked with the beautiful dreams of people in countries around the world."

These are the words said by Chinese President Xi Jinping in multiple occasions, calling for people across the globe to support and help each other in realizing the shared aspirations for a better life.

The pursuit of beautiful dreams resonates far and wide across countries and nations, Xi said, and the Chinese Dream is about pursuing strength of the country, rejuvenation of the nation and happiness of the people, and the dream of the world is about enduring peace and common prosperity.

"These two dreams can always be pursued together," Xi noted.

The Chinese Dream is about the pursuit of peace

At a meeting commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-France diplomatic relations in 2014, President Xi highlighted the realization of the Chinese Dream is premised on peace, because only peace can make one's dream come true.

Achieving universal peace has been a cherished ideal of the Chinese nation for several thousand years, he said.

The Chinese nation is a peace-loving nation, Xi said, adding that what the Chinese people fear is turmoil, what they seek is stability, and what they hope for is peace in the world.

In his report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Xi pointed out that "our people's armed forces are a heroic fighting force that enjoys the full trust of the Party and the people. They have the confidence and the ability to make yet greater contributions to world peace and development."

The Chinese military has participated in 25 UN peacekeeping operations and sent nearly 50,000 peacekeepers since 1990.

Chinese peacekeepers have left their footprints in over 20 countries and regions including Cambodia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Liberia, Sudan, Lebanon, Cyprus, South Sudan, Mali, the Central African Republic, and so on.

Making important contributions in promoting the peaceful settlement of disputes, they have maintained regional security and stability, and promoted the economic and social development of the countries where they are deployed.

In the past 10 years, China has dispatched 42 naval fleets to the Gulf of Aden and Somali waters to carry out escort and anti-piracy missions.

The Chinese military hospital ship "Peace Ark" has gone abroad nine times to 43 countries and regions in three oceans and six continents, sailing more than 240,000 nautical miles and providing medical services to more than 230,000 people.

The Chinese Dream is about the pursuit of global development

"China's development is facilitated by the development of the world, and it will bring about greater impetus and opportunities for the common progress of all countries," President Xi made the remarks in 2015 in London.

President Xi first brought the notion of "a community with a shared future for mankind" to the world's attention during a 2013 speech at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations.

In today's world, countries are more interconnected and interdependent than ever before, and are increasingly becoming a close-knit community with a shared future where everyone is connected to each other.

Eyeing the common interests of the Chinese people and people elsewhere, a community with a shared future for mankind is China's plan to answer and solve the questions of the current world, and the promises China made on linking the Chinese Dream with the world and contributing to global development.

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) proposed by Xi Jinping in 2013 has become a popular international public good and a practical platform for building a community with a shared future for mankind.

As of October 2022, China has signed more than 200 cooperation documents with 149 countries and 32 international organizations, and the joint construction of the Belt and Road has been included in the outcome documents of multilateral mechanisms such as the United Nations and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.

Since its first edition, the China International Import Expo (CIIE) has demonstrated China's commitment to high-level opening-up and widening market access to the rest of the world, contributing to global growth with the country's high-quality development.

"The CIIE is bringing the best of innovation from the world to China, but also showcasing the best of innovation of China to the world," said Fabrice Megarbane, L'Oreal North Asia Zone president and chief executive officer of L'Oreal China.

As Xi has said, "the Chinese Dream is after all a dream of the people." It can be fulfilled only when it is linked with the people's yearning for a better life.

Xi represents the Chinese Dream, which, according to British scholar Martin Jacques, is about the Chinese people dragging themselves up from poverty, about people living much better lives and about China playing a different role in the world.
