Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski led their teams to triumphant and long-awaited victories at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Argentina found it difficult to run the game like they used to against Mexico's aggressive defense. That's why Messi had to stand out, first scoring an icebreaker and then assisting Enzo Fernandez to seal the deal.
Lewandowski had a similar experience with Poland against Iran. As one of the world's top strikers, he knew when to pass to teammates for a better chance and when to seize it to score by himself.
In Group D, France secured a close win over Denmark and became the first qualified team for the knockout stage. Having defeated Tunisia 1-0, Australia are likely to join France – as long as they don't flop in their final game against Denmark.
