China sent its remote sensing satellite, the Yaogan-36, into space atop a Long March-2D carrier rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China's Sichuan Province on Sunday.

The satellite, which lifted off at 8:23 p.m. Beijing Time, has successfully entered its planned orbit.

The mission is the 451st launch using the Long March carrier rocket series.
