Russian President Vladimir Putin met with his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Moscow on Monday.

It is the Kazakh leader's first foreign visit since he was sworn in as Kazakh president for a second term last week.

The two leaders attended an inter-regional forum between Russia and Kazakhstan via video link on Monday.

Russia has been and remains one of the largest investors in the economy of Kazakhstan, Putin said at the forum, calling for strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

They also signed a joint declaration on the occasion of their 30-year diplomatic ties, according to the Kremlin.

In the statement, the Russian federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan reaffirmed the fact "that there can be no winners in a nuclear war and it should never be unleashed."
