Shanghai Marathon returns after two-year hiatus

The Shanghai Marathon returned to the road race calendar on Sunday morning, as 18,000 runners competed in the 2022 edition, the first to be held since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year's route started from the Bund and ended at the intersection of Longqi and Yunjin roads. Thirty-year-old national team member Yang Shaohui claimed the men's title in 2:16:04. In the women's race, 26-year-old Zhang Deshun crossed the line first in 2:28:17.
