WHO recommends new name for monkeypox disease as 'mpox'

The World Health Organization (WHO) will begin using a new preferred term "mpox" as a synonym for monkeypox, according to a statement on Monday.
Both names will be used simultaneously for one year while "monkeypox" is phased out.
