The 2-0 loss against Morocco in Group F not only drove Belgium to the edge of elimination from the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, but also led to the rumors that the team may implode because of locker room conflict.

Eden Hazard of Belgium denied the rumors at the press conference on Tuesday. He admitted that they "had a good talk," but there was no rift in the locker room.

"We had a good talk among the players. A lot has been said. We talked for an hour about good things and less good things. Now we want to win against Croatia. We now have two days to prepare. We have to be ready," Hazard told reporters. "Nothing happened in the dressing room," Hazard said. "Only the coach (Roberto Martinez) spoke. I spoke to Kevin De Bruyne, he does believe in the group."

Belgium's starting goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois attended the press conference too and told the same story. "Nothing happened, we were disappointed with the defeat. The manager spoke a little bit after the game and that was it. There's too many lies always, outside and the social media is developing. A situation gets created that doesn't exist and I think as a group we have to keep the negativity outside and just leave out there because we are a team," he said.

Courtois was right about one thing: Belgium were disappointed at the defeat and they should be. They had more famous and better players than Morocco and were in advantage in the game on November 27 until Morocco scored first. Moreover, trailing didn't stimulate Belgium to do better. The whole team continued to play like a series of separate units instead of a united group.

In fact, that has been a long-term problem for Belgium since they welcomed the "golden generation" into the national team. It was never clear who's the true leader of the team – should it be Hazard, Kevin de Bruyne, or someone else? The team were never able to assemble a competitive squad with the gifted players they have. It's one of the major reasons that they never went far enough in the World Cup or the UEFA European Championship.

Belgium, with three points after two games, must defeat Croatia on Thursday to secure qualification for Round of 16. As for Morocco, which will play Canada on the same day, they only need a draw to advance to the next stage.
