Since November 27, a severe cold wave has been sweeping across central and eastern China. Temperatures have plummeted in many areas.
Satellite images over the past two days show that southern part of north China and most of southern China are covered by thick clouds. The cold wave rushing southwards mixes with warm and humid air to form precipitation clouds. The Yangtze River basin saw the first snow in the affected regions. The cold wave is due to end by December 2.
