Hou Kai, auditor general of China's National Audit Office, will hold the chairmanship of the United Nations (UN) Board of Auditors for two years starting January 1, 2023, the board decided at its 52nd special session held in Santiago, Chile on Tuesday. The UN General Assembly established the Board of Auditors in 1946 to provide an external audit of the accounts and performance of the UN organizations and their funds and programs.
