Hawaii's Mauna Loa erupts for first time in nearly 40 years
00:43

The world's largest active volcano, Mauna Loa, began erupting for the first time since 1984. Onlookers are flocking to the volcano located on the south-central part of the island of Hawaii to see the lava flows. Authorities said the lava flows are beginning to slow and spread out and are unlikely to threaten populated areas. Two shelters were opened on the island as a precaution.
