Moldova's parliament decided on Thursday to extend a state of emergency for another 60 days, as of December 6, during which time the Commission for Emergency Situations will issue compulsory instructions for the central and local public administrations, public institutions and citizens.

According to Moldovan media, the government made the decision in order to ensure the security of winter energy supplies, to manage migration and to offset any security risks.

"Moldova is in an unprecedented situation in which the institutions further need quick instruments to intervene. Day after day, we must find solutions to have electricity and gas," Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita told parliament.
