The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a U.S.-backed group that helped fight the Islamic State (IS) militants in Syria, has stopped all joint counter-terrorism operations as a result of Turkish bombardment on its area of control, a spokesman said Friday.
Aram Henna told Reuters news agency that "all coordination and joint counter-terrorism operations with the coalition" had been halted.
The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces are affiliated with Syria's Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG). Ankara sees the YPG as the Syrian branch of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which is listed as a terrorist organization in the country.
Türkiye carried out an aerial operation since late November against the YPG in northern Syria and the PKK in northern Iraq.
