Both France and Brazil have qualified for Round of 16 competitions at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Though the two teams won't meet each other until the final game, French defender William Saliba said he wants Brazil knocked out "as soon as possible."
Saliba and Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus are teammates in Premier League's Arsenal. He told reporters on Friday that he wants to eliminate Jesu from the World Cup.
"He's a top player and he has done a lot of good things at Arsenal this year," Saliba said at the press conference. "I hope he has a great performance [at the World Cup] but as of today, I hope they go out as soon as possible."

France and Brazil met four times in the World Cup and France beat the opponents twice, in the final in 1998 and in the quarterfinals in 2006. In 1986, the two sides held each other at 1-1 in 120 minutes before France beat Brazil on penalties (4-3). The only time Brazil defeated France was in 1958 when Pele scored a hat trick for the "Little Canary" to win 5-2 in the semifinals.
Before France or Brazil can think about playing for the fifth time in Qatar, they need to go through the Round of 16, quarterfinals and semifinals first. France will meet Poland first on Sunday. Though Poland are not the strongest rival for France, neither were Switzerland for "Les Bleus" in the UEFA European Championship last year. However, France lost to Switzerland on penalties in the Round of 16 game back then.

"I think we were too relaxed against Switzerland," Antoine Griezmann said at Friday's press conference. "When we were 3-1 up we thought it was over. In big competitions you realize that there are no easy opponents, it's going to be the same against Poland. Nothing is guaranteed, we will need to be focused from the first to the last second. We have to bear in mind that nothing can be taken for granted."
Having finished their three group games with two wins and one loss and scored six goals, France didn't get one penalty. Griezmann refused to say who will take the shot if they are awarded one at the Al Thumama stadium on Sunday.
"Who takes penalties is very clear for us. But I will not give [Wojciech] Szczesny any info, he's already good enough. Let's keep it a surprise," Griezmann said. "We're going to work on this today, or more likely tomorrow because today's training session is open to the media."
If France beat Poland, they will play the winner between England and Senegal in the quarterfinals.
