The highway connecting the cities of Golmud and Mangya in northwest China's Qinghai Province opened to traffic on December 1, after a two-and-a-half-year expansion project. The central artery's toll stations officially went into operation at noon. The expanded highway is an important part of west China's transportation network as a major link between Sichuan Province and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region via Qinghai.
