The Netherlands trailed the USA in ball possession, total shots and shots on goal, among other stats, but the "Clockwork Orange" secured a 3-1 victory on Saturday. They first led 2-0 and then quickly scored the third goal after the USA made it 2-1.

Fans of Argentina had every reason to chant Lionel Messi's name after he scored to help his team lead 1-0 against Australia. It's his ninth goal in the five editions of the World Cup he has played and the first during the knockout stage.

The Netherlands and Argentina will face each other in the quarterfinals. They have met five times in the World Cup before. The Netherlands secured two wins, two draws and suffered one loss.

The last time Argentina played the Netherlands in the World Cup was in the semifinals in 2014. It was a scoreless draw in 120 minutes but Argentina won in the end on penalties 4-2.
