Drastically reducing pharmaceutical drug prices from $700,000 to just $7,000 per shot for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), that's what China's national medical insurance platform did at the end of 2021. Since then, more than 1,000 SMA patients have started treatment, and among them are 2-year-old Tiezhu and 14-year-old Ranran. Here are their stories of regaining hope for survival.
