The construction of a transmission tunnel crossing the Yangtze River along the China-Russia east-route gas pipeline was completed at the river's estuary on Saturday. The total length of the tunnel is 10.226 kilometers, and the project took 28 months to complete. It is the world's longest and deepest buried tunnel withstanding the highest water pressure in the field of oil and gas pipelines. The northern and middle sections have been put into use. The southern section, still under construction, is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2025.
